Recording the Beatles

I just received this very cool book today...it's huge! I went right to the section on monitors and I found out that 95% of all Beatles music was recorded and mixed using the Altec 605A duplex in 612 cabinets ...fascinating!!!

I have always known that certain groups of the 60,s and 70,s just sounded really right through Altec, and ONLY Altec.

Beach Boys recordings also come through the way I think they were intended to, using Altecs.

Yeah, but that's what it means now, though. Language changes, and it doesn't matter how much the academics scream and sneer about it.
